Our Three-Phase Coordination Framework
Phase 1 Pre-Move Coordination. Before moving day we schedule a planning meeting with the family and the BCBA or support team. We discuss the preferred moving timeline aligned with daily routines and transition schedules. We identify which rooms should remain undisturbed for as long as possible. We discuss environmental triggers to avoid including sounds, lighting changes, and unexpected people in specific spaces. We locate high-priority comfort items that must remain accessible throughout the process. We establish safe locations for the children during various stages of the move. We set up communication preferences between our crew and the support team. We review the new home layout and plan how to recreate familiar room configurations.
Phase 2 Moving Day Coordination. Throughout the move our crew maintains open communication with the BCBA and caregivers. We pause work in specific rooms when requested. We adjust the order of packing or unloading to support scheduled transitions. We delay the movement of preferred items until the BCBA indicates the appropriate time. We minimize unnecessary noise or congestion in areas where the children are working or regulating. We follow agreed-upon movement paths through the home to reduce unexpected disruptions. Rather than asking the family to adapt to our process we adapt our workflow to support theirs.
Phase 3 Recreating Familiar Environments. As the new home is organized the BCBA provides guidance on room setup, visual supports, and environmental consistency. We position furniture to closely resemble the layout of the previous home. We hang visual schedules, calendars, and communication supports where the family requests. We recreate sensory spaces using the family's existing equipment including weighted blankets, noise machines, lighting, and tactile items. We organize toys, reinforcers, learning materials, and comfort items in familiar locations. We ensure preferred items are accessible before the children arrive at the new home. The goal is recognition not confusion.
Our Collaborative Philosophy
Successful relocations for families with significant support needs are built on teamwork. Parents know their children best. The BCBA understands the behavioral strategies that support successful transitions. Our responsibility is to provide a safe, organized, and flexible relocation process that allows those supports to remain as consistent as possible throughout the move.
