Today, June 20, 2026, the Haul of Fame Movers crew tackled a two-bedroom apartment move from near downtown Northampton, MA, to Essex Street in Holyoke, MA.
The client had reached out to us via Thumbtack just a week prior looking for an accurate estimate. Because it was a cohabited living space where only one person was moving out—and the client was incredibly busy—we skipped the traditional walkthrough and conducted a virtual estimate. After nailing down the exact inventory and logistics, we estimated the job would take four hours with two movers and a 16-foot truck.
Navigating Tight Spaces in Northampton
When we arrived right on time at 8:00 AM, we were immediately relieved that we had budgeted for our 16-foot truck rather than a massive 26-foot rig. The Northampton street was incredibly narrow, the driveway was even tighter, and because it was a busy Saturday morning, street parking was completely full. Thanks to the smaller truck, we safely maneuvered right into the driveway and began our initial walkthrough.
White-Glove Care for Family Heirlooms
During the walkthrough, we noticed a beautiful, antique curio cabinet. The client mentioned it was a cherished heirloom handed down from their grandparents. It’s a good thing they called Haul of Fame Movers! To guarantee it arrived without a scratch, our team took extra precautions:
We carefully removed the interior shelves.
We wrapped the entire piece from top to bottom in thick moving blankets.
We taped heavy-duty cardboard over the glass doors for structural protection.
We secured the entire unit tightly with shrink wrap.
Conquering Three Flights of Stairs in Holyoke
By 10:45 AM, we had the 16-foot truck perfectly packed from nose to tailgate. We hit the road and arrived at the Holyoke delivery address just after 11:00 AM.
The new apartment was on the third floor—no elevator! Fortunately, servicing older apartments with steep staircases is second nature to us here in Western Massachusetts. To make things even better, the client was gracious enough to buy the crew ice-cold Gatorades. That extra fuel was exactly what we needed to power through the full truckload and knock out three flights of stairs.
Mission Accomplished
By 12:30 PM, we were reassembling the mirror back onto the client's dresser and wrapping up the final cleanup. Including return travel time, the move clocked in exactly at our 4-hour estimate.
After wrapping up a successful day and receiving a generous tip from a very happy client, the crew took a well-deserved lunch break before heading off to our second job of the day in Springfield, MA.
